Reverend. Becky Dyball
It is a privilege to be a governor for Holme C of E Academy and Stilton C of E Primary. I have the delight of spending time with the staff and pupils as we gather for collective worship, special lessons, workshops and in the playground. My personal favourite is when I get to join the pupils at lunch for informal chats and hear about all their different projects and learning adventures. As a governor I have a particular focus on collective worship.
I am a Rector in the Church of England with a focus on Sawtry, Glatton, Holme and Connington. Before training as a priest I had a varied career including Community Development, Management, Fundraising, working in the Democratic Repulic of the Congo and a Director of a regeneration Company in Islington. I am married to Alex and have a son in year 6 at the school.
Name: Iain Fairlie
Why I became a Governor:
To support the schools in its work to deliver opportunity to every child in our community. I recognise the heavy workload teachers and other staff have nowadays and felt I should help a little by providing input from a parents perspective to the decisions the Schools takes.
Role & Responsibilities:
I am a Parent Governor and recently elected Chair of Governors. I am also the designated Governor for Safeguarding matters.
Interests:
As with all parents, our children, their growth, development and wellbeing are my main interest. Outside of this, my golf game needs attention and I enjoy watching most other sports.
Background:
I am married to Leanne and we live in Sawtry with our two children and two pets, a Labrador and a rabbit.
For work, I have been in the Financial Services industry for over twenty years and am now a Director of a Personal Financial Advice business based near Milton Keynes.
Name: Nicki Fyfe
Why I became a Governor:
I initially became a governor to represent school staff in decision making and give a staff perspective on the areas the governors are responsible for when I was a staff governor. I am now a Co-opted governor but still attend meetings to give updates in my role as Finance Hub Advisor for the Trust.
Interests:
I love reading, cooking and all things nature related. I attempt to keep fit and healthy by going to the gym and running.
Background:
I live just outside Peterborough with my husband Neil, my 2 children, Rory and Hazel and a labradoodle called Molly.
I moved to Peterborough in 1999 as a placement student for British Sugar and worked there in various finance roles for 16 years. I took some time off before my daughter started school and then started working at Holme in October 2017 as Finance Secretary, responsible for finance, payroll and property management. From 1st January 2021, I continue to work for the Trust but as a Finance Hub Advisor for both Stilton and Holme Academies.
Name: Patricia Maltman
Why I became a Governor: I have been a governor at Stilton for a very long time, first as a parent governor then as a foundation governor, appointed by the diocese on the recommendation of the incumbent. I became a governor because I feel very strongly that the education and well-being of children is of paramount importance to them and all of us. It is in the belief I still may have something to offer towards this end that I continue to be a governor. By education I would include, as well as academic successes, the development of a ‘whole person’.
Role & Responsibilities: Although foundation governors no longer exist as such within DMAT, I do liaise between church and school especially in matters to do with collective worship and special events shared by both. I deliver CW to the school once a fortnight, the ‘in between weeks’ being delivered by the vicar.
What committees are you involved in: I attend Data Group meetings and am a member of the Teaching and Learning Committee.
Interests: I am a member of the Parochial Church Council (PCC) and run CROSSOVER, a church group for Year 6s. I am also a member of the Church Heritage Group.
Background: Though now retired, I was a secondary school science teacher for many years. I have also been a LA community worker in Peterborough.
Name: Rachel Maltman
Why I became a Governor:
I became a governor as I was approached to be a representative of the Church as a Foundation Governor. I wanted to have an opportunity to be involved in the community where I lived and being a governor allows you to be involved in the strategic decisions and future direction of the school. I am in my second term as a governor and after 2 years as a governor, my daughter started at Stilton school in Reception class.
Role & Responsibilities:
I am the Link Governor for: Siams and Collective Worship, Children in Care for both Holme & Stilton Schools.
Interests:
I am St Mary Magdelene, Stilton’s Co-ordinator for the Winter Night Shelter and am on the Steering committee for this fantastic charity.
Background:
I am a qualified teacher in Secondary Science and taught Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths, ICT, PSHE, Health and Social Care, Society Health and Development and was the Lead in Health and Social Care. Having taught for over 10 years, I have seen much change in education.
Julia Hart
I became a governor to have the opportunity to support the school and the community, especially children with special educational needs, as I have both personal and professional experience of this.
I am the Link Governor for SEND and I was elected as a Parent Governor in June 2021.
I am also a member of FOSS (Friends of Stilton School). I enjoy reading and going to exercise classes including yoga and Zumba. I have been a regular blood donor for many years.
I have lived in Stilton since 2011 with my family. I worked as Speech and Language Therapist in the NHS for 13 years, supporting children in the community, mainstream and special schools, therefore I am very keen to support the development of all children, especially those with special educational needs.
Paul Springford
Why I became a Governor:
I had been a teacher and then continued to work in education. My children had attended the school. (Before long, my grandchildren would too.) I wanted to support the school and develop my interest in education at the same time.
Role & Responsibilities:
I spent quite a long period as Chair of Governors. I have been a member of the Learning Committee and the Resources Committee. Currently I am Link Governor for Safeguarding, which is a crucially important aspect of the school’s work.
Interests:
I belong to the village Twinning Association and I play table tennis at the Pavilion once a week. I have a keen interest in local history and I enjoy walking.
Background:
It’s hard for me to believe it but I’ve lived in Stilton for over 40 years. I was brought up in Hertfordshire but Stilton is definitely my home now. I retired five years ago after a career in education, mostly in Peterborough and Cambridgeshire. Luckily most of our children and grandchildren live within a 30 mile radius of Stilton and we’re fortunate to see them regularly.
